A Legacy of Excellence in High-Precision Optics

Tecnottica has evolved from a small artisan optical workshop to a leading industrial manufacturer of high-precision optical components. Founded by brothers Angelo and Giuseppe Consonni, the company has grown through three generations, staying true to its commitment to quality and innovation.

Tecnottica’s evolution was shaped by the dedication and vision of Angelo’s daughters. Stepping in at a young age after the passing of their father and uncle, they played a key role in ensuring the company’s growth and continuity. Today, the legacy continues with the next generation, who carry forward the same passion and commitment to excellence.

The 2nd Generation

Ester Consonni, Legal Representative, shared her journey within Tecnottica, which began in 1974 in an administrative role. Following the passing of her father in 1979, she took on additional responsibilities in the commercial sector, contributing to the company’s growth and continuity across generations.

Cecilia Consonni, Head of Administration, recalled the challenges of being one of the few women handling financial and banking matters at the time. However, the support of family friends and professionals, who had worked with her father, played a crucial role in helping her navigate this path.

The 3rd Generation

Currently, Tecnottica operates internationally, with key markets in Germany, France, and the United States. Recently, the company has also established new commercial partnerships in India and Israel, reinforcing its global presence while continuously exploring new opportunities for expansion.

Francesca Ravasi, Head of Administration and Quality, highlighted the growth and solidity of Tecnottica, emphasizing how the company has evolved over the years. Today, Tecnottica counts 36 people, with an annual turnover of approximately €7 million, a testament to its stability and continued innovation in the optics industry.

During the interview, Alberto FasoliProduction Director, explained how our work combines traditional craftsmanship with the latest technological advancements. While our origins were deeply rooted in manual optical corrections, today we integrate state-of-the-art machinery that allows for extreme precision—achieving surface irregularities of less than λ/20.

Our optical components have no standard catalog, as every lens we manufacture is custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of each client. Whether for aerospace, biomedical applications, or advanced telescopes, our team ensures the highest levels of precision and reliability.

Strategic Goals for 2025: Growth and Innovation

Looking ahead, 2025 will be a year of consolidation and strategic expansion. Some of our key priorities include:

Expanding in the United States, strengthening our presence in aerospace and security sectors.
✅ Advancing our expertise in infrared optics to meet growing industry demands.
Investing in technology and digitalization, with major upgrades to production processes.
Expanding our facilities by 700 m² to improve metrology, quality control, and manufacturing capacity.
Sustainability initiatives, including a new photovoltaic system that will generate 40% of our energy needs.

These investments reflect our commitment to innovation, ensuring that we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in high-precision optics.

Optics Beyond the Limits of the Human Eye

One of the most exciting applications of our lenses is in space observation. Some of the components we produce for ESA (European Space Agency) and ASI (Italian Space Agency) will be mounted on a ground-based telescope in Sicily, designed to track space debris that could pose a risk to Earth.

Thanks to the extraordinary precision of our optical systems, we can see beyond what the human eye perceives, contributing to advancements in space exploration, defense, and scientific research.

We are truly grateful to RAI, TGR Lombardia, and journalist Laura Carcano for featuring us in this initiative to promote Made in Italy excellence. Their work in showcasing the best of Italian innovation helps highlight the dedication and expertise that companies like ours bring to the global market.
