What is considered "technical glass"?
This particular category of glasses involves all those processes with specific characteristics, such as ultra-thin glass for optical applications, anti-reflective, reflective, low-emissivity for energy saving, non-slip, sound-absorbing, etc.
In general, we could define as "technical glass" any glass component (borosilicate, tempered glass, ceramic), normally with flat surfaces, with a specific application in the field of technology, systems, instruments, control or aesthetics (without a specific function within the application).
Main application areas
- Pharmaceutical: High-resistance containers for injectable and oral medications.
- Optics
- Electronics
- Photography: glass for frames, anti-reflective coatings for photographic prints.
- Lighting: tempered and screen-printed glass for lighting and LED lights, energy vision glass (coating to increase light flow), dichroic filters, borosilicate glass in sheets and tubes, hollow glass.
- Residential: commercial, design, architecture, and furnishings.
- Industrial applications: sight glasses, borosilicate tubing, glass indicators, tempered glass, glass curves, anti-reflective glass, sterilization and disinfection with UV light, control/measurement glass in high-temperature environments, glass for touch-screen panels, protective glass.
- Scientific use: resistant to thermal stress glass, ultra-thin glass.
